THE VALLEY OF WAVES
The Valley of Waves is the central feature of the Lost City at Sun City. Part of the magical legend of the Lost City.
It is one of the most advanced water parks in the world, dominated by the Roaring Lagoon, a 6 500-square metre (7560-square yards) wave pool with a palm-fringed beach. Hydraulic mechanisms can generate a 1,8 metre (6 feet 8 inches) wave every 90 seconds. When waves are not generated, a bobbing cycle is generated in a diamond pattern.
All Resort residents enter the park free of charge by presenting their resident cards. For all day visitors there is an entrance fee to the park.
The water park has five exhilarating flume rides:
From the aptly named Temple of Courage, swimmers drop a heart-stopping 17 meters (57 feet) down a 70-meter (233 feet) chute, hurtle under a bridge and splash into a small pool at the foot of the slide.
The Tarantula and the Scorpion are body slides, and the Viper and the Mamba are flume rides where the swimmers float on large inflated tubes.
The Lazy River is a gentle tube ride that flows endlessly round a kidney-shaped island.
On the island is an ethnic village with a clothing store, a sweet shop and a fast food outlet, as well as a pool and playground for children.
The Royal Bath is a swimming pool that is also open to both day visitors and Resort residents. The large pool is adjacent to an amphitheatre, which can accommodate an audience of over 800. On the pool deck the Observatory Bar offers exotic cocktails and is covered by an antique dome.
Facilities at the Valley of Waves include well-equipped changing rooms, a locker service and a clinic for treating minor medical emergencies. In spite of the breathtaking nature of some of the rides, safety is paramount and lifeguards are on duty in the park throughout the day.
The Valley of Waves is open daily from 10h00 until 17h00 in winter and 09h00 until 18h00 in summer. However, the park will be closed for annual maintenance between the following dates:
15 May 2008 – 20 June 2008 (both dates inclusive)
25 May 2009 – 30 June 2009 (both dates inclusive)
1 May 2010 – 30 June 2010 (both dates inclusive)
The Valley of Waves will close at 14:00 on 10 November 2008.
The Bridge of Time is the route to and from the Valley of Waves, through the magnificent Kong Gates onto the Monkey Spring Plaza. This bridge which erupts every hour in a display of Volcanic activity.
The Botanical Garden Trails go around and through the different forests surrounding the Valley of Waves, a Rain Forest, Baobab Forest, the Jacaranda and the Tropical Forest. All contain rare plant varieties. The Sway Bridge, Adventure Paths, Hidden Cave Water Falls and other exciting walkways are in the Garden.
THE GOLF COURSES
The Sun City Resort proudly boasts 2 world class 18 hole championship golf courses.
The Gary Player Golf Course.
The Gary Player Golf Course needs no introduction, this world renown course was designed by Gary Player, and is the home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, an annual golf tournament with total prize money of US $4 385 000. This is an 18 hole, par 72 walking course, with a 5km running trail along the course.
The Gary Player Country Club overlooks this magnificent golf course and incorporates a Pro Shop, a Health spa and gymnasium, two squash courts and a spinning studio. At the Health Spa you can indulge in hair and beauty treatments, hydro bath, Vichy Shower, spa-pool and steam room. The fully equipped gym also offers personal trainers.
The Lost City Golf Course
The Lost City Golf Course was also designed by famed South African golfing figure, Gary Player. This spectacular par-72 course is a cart course, complete with a state-of-the-art clubhouse, and is a short stroll from The Palace of the Lost City. It features a water hazard of 20 live Nile crocodiles on the 13th hole and offers facilities such as a driving range, and a Golf Pro Shop.
THE CASINO AND SLOTS
The Casino – Tables games
Based in the Sun City hotel in the centre of the Resort, Sun City’s two casino areas now cater for smoking and non-smoking guests. A Smartcard cashless gaming system is run for the convenience and pleasure of the patrons. The Casino is open from 13h00 weekdays and 11h00 weekends. Cash Desk Facilities are available at both areas and the Bureau de Change will accept all major currencies. A passport is required for all foreign exchange transactions.
Tables players can enjoy Blackjack, American Roulette, Poker, and Punto Banco. There is a Salon Prive where the stakes are higher and the International Room, which is reserved for games with very high limits and is by invitation only.
The Slots
There are two separate Slots operations, one based in the Entertainment Centre and one in the Sun City hotel. Both areas have both a Smoking and Non smoking floor. Sun City Slots are amongst the most progressive in the world incorporating all the new technological advances and entertainment features.
The Slots Prive for higher denomination play is available in the Sun City Hotel.
As part of the Sun International group, the Most Valued Guest “MVG” gaming loyalty programme is valid at Sun City and offers a host of rewarding offers.
MVG Desks are available in the Entertainment Centre and the Sun City Hotel.
THE ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE
Visitors can find the latest in entertainment and gaming in the Entertainment Centre, plus a wide range of fast food outlets, restaurants and children’s facilities. Moviezone
Offer first-run movies as well as family fare. Located on the upper level of the Entertainment Centre, Moviezone is open 7 days a week with 4 movies split over two cinemas at various show times.
A wide range of video and interactive games are available in the Magic Company Games Arcade for children of all ages.
CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINMENT
Kamp Kwena Creche
Relax and enjoy all that Sun City has to offer knowing your children are in safe hands at the Kamp Kwena Crèche. Open to children aged 0 to 12, the Crèche offers various activities to keep your child entertained. Located on the upper level of the Entertainment Centre, the Crèche is open Sunday to Thursday from 10h00 to 23h00 and Fridays and Saturdays from 10h00 to 01h00.
TEENAGE ENTERTAINMENT
Chirp Parties have finally found a home at Club Chirp on the upper level of the Entertainment Centre. Open for teenagers aged 13 – 17, Club Chirp is a secure environment for teens looking to meet new people and make new friends. Strictly no one over 18 years and no alcohol. Club Chirp is open every Friday and Saturday night from 19h00 – 01h00 and 7 days a week during school holidays.
ADULT ENTERTAINMENT
Trader Horn’s Action Bar is definitely the place to be. Open 7 days a week from 17h00 until close, Trader Horns boasts big screens with live sporting events and a live band every evening, except Mondays. They also have a 3-hour Happy Hour, Sunday to Friday, from 17h00 – 20h00. Trader Horns is situated on the upper level of the Entertainment Centre.
Silhouette nightclub is an upmarket club providing evening entertainment and an atmosphere to rival most nightclubs is South Africa. Located on the upper level of the Entertainment Centre Silhouette operates on Friday and Saturday nights only from 23h00 until close.

WELCOME CENTRE
Situated at the entrance to the Entertainment Centre, the sole function of the Welcome Centre is to meet the needs of every visitor to the Resort. It is a one-stop shop offering services ranging from booking and confirming bus tickets, flights, car hire, game drives and other adventure activities.
Computicket, a branch of the on-line booking service, is available at the Welcome Centre for theatre, cinema and concerts tickets, both in the Sun City Superbowl and all major centres in Southern Africa.
Game Trackers
The Gametrackers desk is also located in the Welcome Centre. Gametrackers offer a variety of activities which include:

Kwena Gardens Crocodile Sanctuary

Zipslide

Horse riding takes place in a small section of a Private Game Park, suitable for the beginner to the novice, accompanied by a groom.

THE CABANAS
Set in the same gardens where Sun City Hotel is, conveniently close to the lakeshore and the children’s playground, is the Sun City Cabanas, a family-orientated hotel. Facilities include a pool, restaurants and bars.

Cabanas Hotel has a large swimming pool and a children’s pool with a lifeguard in attendance daily.

Waterworld
Combine the excitement of parachuting, the thrill of water sports and parasailing. Let the expert instructors teach you how to water-ski or wake board. Ride a wave on a jet ski. A daily cruise around the private lake is a great way to enjoy a sundowner. Mini cars, Putt – Putt, Trampolines, Bumper Boats and Play Ground are all the exciting activities surrounding the lake.
Steam Train Rides ‘Stimela’
Train ride that goes passed the Cabanas Aviary and over a small part of the Waterworld lake observe the Impala, Ostrich, Nyala which live in this tranquility world.
Kamp Kwena Fort – Children’s programme
This is an active fun-filled children’s programme for ages 4 – 12 years. This is a great way to meet new friends and have fun doing playful and exciting things.
