Get ready for loads of fun and plenty of winning opportunities on Sun International’s range of slot machines. There are so many to choose from, you can be guaranteed to find the one that suits you! To get the most out of your play, you should have a good understanding of the functions of the slot machines: how they are played, what options for bets are available, winning combinations and how the interactive bonus awards may come about.
Slot machines may vary from one another in many ways. They can often differ in operation, construction, winning combinations, value of payouts, design and in the number of bets permitted.
Before placing a bet there are a number of factors to consider such as value of the awards, the top jackpot value, the number of reels, the number of lines and number of bets
per line.
Video Poker allows players to interactively participate in a poker game. For more information on how to play Video Poker please see the Video Poker Player’s Guide.
Stepper Reels are the more traditional slot machines that have physical reels and limited betting options (3, 4, 5 credits).
Video Slots have replaced the traditional stepper machines and can provide, in some cases,
a multitude of games.
Smart Cards
Sun International offers coinless gaming on all its slot machines. You can either obtain a smart card for the day from the Cash Desk, or you can join Sun International’s Most Valued Guest Programme where you get your very own personalised MVG smart card.
Paylines
For a winning combination the required symbols (icons) must appear against a visible line, a line painted on the glass of the Stepper Reel machine or presented as a video image on video slots. Some games offer more than one payline.
You must bet at least one credit per line to activate it and it is possible to bet more than one credit per line on the slot machine.
The number of credits you play does not have any influence on whether a winning combination will appear or not, but it will have an effect on the value of your payout should you hit a winning combination.
You do not have to play all paylines but should a winning combination appear on a payline that has not been bought, you will not be eligible for this payout.
The paytable of the slot machine displays the minimum and maximum number of credits required to play the game; the symbols required to make up winning combinations, the payouts for credits in the winning combinations, the top jackpot and any special features.
Video Slots is the latest innovation in slot machine technology and is fun to play. To ensure you get
the most out of your slot game take a moment to read the play tables on each slot machine to see
various games, scatter options, free games and wild substitutes, as some are only activated on certain lines, after a certain bet is placed.
Line-Pay Game
Line-pay games offer you the opportunity to buy more winning lines, improving your chances to get a winning combination. A number of these games may offer a bonus for extra credits bet over the number of lines on offer, as is indicated on the paytable. The number of winning lines available will be displayed on screen and the number of lines available can differ from 1 to 40 winning lines, which covers the reel-display horizontally, vertically or criss-cross, there are games available with no lines, and winning combinations are all scatter pays so there are up to 243 ways in which to win.
Odds are calculated on all lines being covered, so if you do not cover all lines, the winning odds drop in favour of the casino.
Buy-a-Pay Game
Players have the choice of “buying” additional winning combinations and their corresponding rewards. The more credits that are bet, the more winning combinations are “purchased” with the relevant increased reward. If only one credit is bet, the player can only win on the winning combinations displayed in the 1st credit column.
If two credits are bet then the awards in the 2nd credit column also become applicable.
A maximum bet makes all winning combinations applicable, that is the winning combinations shown in the 1st credit, 2nd credit, 3rd credit columns, etc.
Progressive Slots and Jackpots
Some machines may have a top payout linked to them which is called a progressive. These are slots games where the top jackpot for the best winning hand or combination is not a fixed amount.
As the machines are played, a percentage of the value of each credit that is bet is added to the value of the Progressive Jackpot.
When a player hits a progressive combination, the value displayed is won. After the payout, the system is reset to the base value (the starting amount) of the Progressive Jackpot and the process begins again.
It is advisable to bet the maximum on each play to be eligible for the top jackpot should you hit the winning combination. Some games offer multi-Progressive Jackpots – a percentage of the value of each bet is distributed across the machine’s first and second biggest jackpot, and sometimes even the third biggest.
There are two types of Progressive Jackpot machines - a group of machines “linked” together to one large Progressive Jackpot amount, or a “stand-alone” machine with its own individual Progressive Jackpot amount.
It is important to consider the information displayed on the slot machine before you start playing. If you are unsure insist on a clear explanation from one of the gaming staff.
Remember that all wins are paid subject to all technical and electronic verification being positive, and any slot machine malfunction voids all plays and pays.
